I am a Berlin-based journalist, documentary filmmaker, and author specializing in artificial intelligence and its impact on society. Since February 2021, I have been the Chief Technology Correspondent for Deutsche Welle (DW), Germany's international public broadcaster. In September 2024, my first book, Der Gedanken-Code (The Mind Code,) will be published by German publisher C.H. Beck.

I began covering AI in the mid-2010s when it was still largely considered "blue sky research" and tech reporting was somewhat niche. In 2015, I joined Politico as a political reporter. In January 2018, Politico became the first major publication in the world to appoint me as its full-time AI Correspondent.

I hold a master's degree in political journalism from Columbia University's Journalism School, a master's degree in literature from New York University, and a bachelor's degree in media and literature studies from Humboldt University in Berlin. I am also an alumnus of Deutsche Welle's 18-month journalism fellowship and a former Fulbright Scholar.

In addition to my work with DW and Politico, my articles have appeared in Der Spiegel, Deutschlandfunk, The New York Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and The Intercept. I have received several awards for my reporting, including the U.S. Foreign Press Association's National Award.

Ich bin Journalist, Dokumentarfilmer und Autor und spezialisiert auf künstliche Intelligenz und ihre Auswirkungen auf unsere Gesellschaft. Seit Februar 2021 bin ich Chief Technology Correspondent der Deutschen Welle und verantwortlich für die Berichterstattung der DW über KI und Digitalpolitik. Seit Mitte der 2010er Jahre berichte ich über künstliche Intelligenz – eine Zeit, in der KI noch weitgehend als "Blue Sky"-Forschung galt und Technologieberichterstattung oft in der Nische stattfand. 2015 wurde ich fester Politik-Reporter bei Politico in Berlin. Im Januar 2018 machte mich Politico – als welweit erstes großes Medium – zu seinem Vollzeit-KI-Korrespondenten.

Ich habe einen Master in politischem Journalismus von der Columbia University in New York, einen Master in Literatur von der New York University und einen Bachelor in Medien- und Literaturwissenschaft von der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Daneben bin ich Absolvent des Programmvolontariats der Deutschen Welle und ehemaliger Fulbright-Stipendiat.

Neben meiner Arbeit bei der DW und Politico habe ich unter anderem für den Spiegel, Deutschlandfunk, The New York Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung und The Intercept veröffentlicht. Meine Berichterstattung wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet, darunter mit dem National Award der U.S. Foreign Press Association.
